Phyllis Jo Vandehaar
Dear Marguerite and Margie,
My sympathies go out to you on the passing of your mother. You can imagine the
shock I felt when, at the “Games in Texas,” I learned of the event.
A part of me went with her because I had some wonderful one-on-one
conversations where I discovered her depth and sensitivity. I
learned also,of her sense of humor and her dry wit. I had so hoped
to see and talk with her again this year in Texas. I shall always
remember her fondly.

Dear Marguerite,
We send our heartfelt sympathy to you in the loss of your mother.
We met Liz in Texas at the gathering for “The Games” several years ago.
When we arrived in Texas this year, we were all saddened to learn the
news about Liz. There was definitely a void this year. She
always enjoyed those fun times in Texas. She will certainly be
missed by “the ladies in Texas.” She was a really good card
player, very kind, thoughtful, and lots of fun to be with. We
trust you have many wonderful memories to sustain and comfort you.
Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers, and may God bring you
peace and strength at this time.
Sincerely,
Carole Stone & Ruth Osborn

Dear Marguerite,
Out in Texas everyone was very sad to hear that Liz, your mom, had
passed on. I am truly sorry for your loss. At this time you
must have so many things to do, in addition to your work in your field.
I hope that everything is working out well for you and that you are
receiving the help that you may need.
The memorial service in Kingston should be lovely. I recently
attended a Unitarian Church for the first time and was very impressed by
their sincerity, their genuine interest in contemporary problems of
people’s lives, and their really genuine love for others. I plan
to come and will see you there.
Take care, don’t wear yourself out with all the things you are probably
trying to do all at once.
Looking forward to seeing you soon. In sympathy and with much
love,
Dorothy Lourdou

Dear Marguerite & Margaret,
We are sending a short tape recording of one of the prayers which the
Texas group has often sung prior to meals—“’Neath These Tall Green
Trees.”
The tape quality is not the best but we did what we could do with the
equipment we had. Neither of us has the equipment capability to
produce a voice CD. If you think it appropriate, feel free to use
it at the Memorial Service.
We wish we could attend, but that wasn’t to be, and we are truly sorry.
We will be thinking of you on that day.
Love to you both,
Phyllis Jo and Kathy

Dear Marguerite and Margie,
I’m sending a few pictures from our games weekend last year, pictures
which reflect the joy and happiness of our friendships and clearly show
our enjoyment at just being together. Liz was quiet, especially at
first, but we discovered she had a dry sense of humor and a depth of
feeling which I very much admired. I’m so very sorry her life was
cut short. We missed both her and Margie in Texas this spring.
We wish we could attend the memorial but hope you will use these checks
to buy flowers for the garden gazebo.
Love, Kathy

I was so shocked to hear about Elizabeth at the Games Party. We had
a lot of fun times and had gotten to know her through the after glow
trips. She was a lovely person and lots of fun. We
missed her at the party, but know she is at peace.
Sincerely,
Janice (Jan) Dobb
